The Fed's June meeting

17/6/2026 (Wed)

Previous: 3.75% Forecast: 3.75%

The Fed will have its first meeting under the new management. Financial markets are pricing in a more than 90% chance policymakers will hold rates steady, according to the CME Group's FedWatch tool.

The new governor Kevin Warsh is taking leadership of the central bank at a time when it faces increasing risks to its dual mandate from Congress to keep inflation in check and employment high.

Given the recent resurgence of inflation, Warsh may find it a tough sell to convince a majority of the committee that a cut is the right move despite a high likelihood of peace deal.
