The Fed officials approach this week's policy meeting facing a fresh wave of inflationary pressures, turning the choice between maintaining or increasing interest rates into a tight and highly debated decision.

While certain policymakers have advocated for a patient approach for the time being, they have simultaneously noted that future interest rate hikes may become necessary if inflationary pressures fail to cool down.

Market expectations for an interest rate hike at this week's meeting recently intensified, with investors driving the calculated probability to nearly 40% at one point last week.
