The Fed is expected to raise interest rates this week after a string of stronger-than-expected inflation readings challenged hopes that price pressures would continue to ease without additional policy tightening.


Persistent inflation is driving a confrontation between Trump and the Fed chair this week, as the central bank moves closer to raising interest rates despite public presidential opposition.


At the Jackson Hole meeting last month, Warsh said that high inflation was becoming a bigger worry. He made it clear that if prices didn't start dropping soon, the Federal Reserve would have to step in and act.
