A minimum stop level of 50 points applies across the platform, and late in the week new entries stop altogether. Few platform reviews publish the rules that decide when and how tightly you can trade.
Convert commission into pips before choosing an account. A $6 round-turn charge on a standard lot equals 0.6 pips, so a raw-spread account only pays off when it saves you more than that.
Close before the daily rollover and the overnight charge never applies, which is the one running cost intraday traders avoid by default.
EBC routes orders to more than 50 banks and institutions in under 20 milliseconds on average, and holds client money apart from company funds at Barclays under the FCA, ASIC, CIMA and FSCA.
A strategy can be sound and still fail on a technicality. Some platforms stop accepting new positions in the final hours before the weekend, so an order that fills on Tuesday is refused on Friday.
EBC is a strong fit for active forex, gold and index traders who want MT4 or MT5, reported execution below 20 milliseconds, raw or spread-only pricing, and regulation across several jurisdictions. Its main compromises are a narrower instrument range than large multi-asset brokers and restrictions on opening new positions late on Friday.

Brokers publish these as notices rather than in the headline specifications, which is why they are easy to miss. EBC’s current arrangements, as of August 2026:
Leverage on newly opened positions is reduced during set windows before the daily close and before public holiday early closes, covering floating-leverage forex and the metals XAUUSD and XAGUSD. The schedule runs from July 3, 2026.
Energy symbols XBRUSD, XTIUSD and XNGUSD moved to session-based leverage controls on August 6, 2026.
The final two hours before the Friday close are close-only, and no new positions are accepted.
A minimum stop level of 50 points applies on every symbol except BTCUSD, where it is 1,500 points. A stop, limit or take-profit cannot sit inside that distance from the current price.
The leverage caps apply to new positions only, so trades already open are untouched. They still shape entries, because a position opened inside a reduced window ties up more margin than the same trade mid-session. The stop level is the one that catches scalpers: 50 points is 5 pips on a five-digit forex quote, so a strategy written around 3-pip stops will not place as designed.
The caps are only half the calendar. Instruments do not share a schedule, and a strategy built on one session may have no market in another. Times below are server time, UTC+2.
| Instrument | Weekly window | Daily break |
|---|---|---|
| Major forex pairs | Mon 00:06 to Fri 23:55 | 23:59 to 00:06 |
| Gold (XAUUSD) | Mon 01:05 to Fri 23:58 | 23:58 to 01:05 |
| Index CFDs | Mon 01:05 to Fri 23:59 | 23:59 to 01:05 |
| US share and ETF CFDs | Mon 16:31 to Fri 22:59 | 22:59 to 16:31 |
Share CFDs are the catch. They follow the US cash session only, so a trader in Asia is looking at an overnight strategy. Forex and gold run the full week.
A trader taking six round turns a day places about 120 a month. At one pip of spread per round turn on a standard lot, that is roughly $1,200 before any trade is judged good or bad. You pay the spread on every round turn, plus a commission per lot on raw-spread accounts. The spread is the difference between the price you can buy at and the price you can sell at, charged the moment you enter.
Convert the commission into pips and the spread-only versus raw-spread question stops being a guess. On a standard lot one pip is worth about $10, so a $6 round-turn commission costs 0.6 of a pip. A raw-spread account is cheaper only where it narrows the spread by more than that.
EBC runs both. The Standard account carries no commission and builds the cost into the spread; the Professional account quotes tighter with a per-lot fee. Pull current numbers for your pairs from the trading accounts page and run the subtraction, since the answer changes by instrument.
Swap, the small overnight charge for holding past the day’s end, is the cost you skip. Flatten before the daily rollover and it never applies. Deposits and withdrawals carry no EBC fee either, though your own bank may charge on a wire.
An advertised spread is where the quote begins. Your fill can land somewhere else. Slippage is when your order executes at a slightly different price than the one you clicked, and a requote is the platform asking you to accept a new price before filling. Both bite hardest at the London open and in the seconds after a data print.
EBC reports average execution under 20 milliseconds and data transmission stability up to 98.75%, with orders routed to more than 50 global banks and institutions that supply the quotes. No dealing desk stands between your click and the market, and dedicated servers in London, New York, Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong shorten the trip.
Margin is the deposit set aside to hold a trade open. EBC offers up to 1:500 on 37 major forex pairs and gold, about 1:100 on indices and oil, and far less on individual shares, which move harder than currencies. Higher leverage frees capital rather than creating profit, and it enlarges a loss by the identical multiple.
Retail clients under the FCA and ASIC entities have negative balance protection, so the account cannot be pushed below zero. Positions start closing automatically at the stop-out level if margin runs short. Instrument-by-instrument figures are on the leverage and margin page.
MT5 suits active traders better than MT4: 6 pending order types against 4, 21 chart timeframes against 9, a depth of market panel showing resting orders, and a built-in economic calendar. Both take Expert Advisors for automated entries and both are free from the MT4 and MT5 pages. EBC also publishes order flow tools, which read resting bids and offers rather than the price line alone.
More than 200 instruments sit on one login, so a quiet session in forex does not end the trading day when gold or an index is moving.
Frequency raises your exposure to the broker itself, not only to the market. You hold a balance there continuously and cycle it through dozens of positions a week, which makes the firm’s own standing a live exposure. Check the licenses before anything else on this page.
| Regulator | Entity | Reference | Public register |
|---|---|---|---|
| FCA, United Kingdom | EBC Financial Group (UK) Ltd | 927552 | register.fca.org.uk |
| ASIC, Australia | EBC Financial Group (Australia) Pty Ltd | 500991 | service.asic.gov.au |

| FSCA, South Africa | EBC Financial Group SA (Pty) Ltd | 51541 | fsca.co.za |
Each number is searchable today, and looking one up takes under a minute. Holding four licenses at once means EBC Financial Group trades under conduct rules in four jurisdictions simultaneously, and a breach in one jurisdiction carries consequences in the others.
Client deposits are ring-fenced at Barclays, away from company money, with firm-level cover through Lloyd’s of London. You can read the arrangement on the EBC security page. World Finance has recognized the group in every award year from 2023 through 2026; the record is on the awards page.
Your exact protections depend on which entity holds your account, so confirm that at sign-up. Rules for retail trading are set by the authority in your jurisdiction, can change, and are worth checking against current guidance and a qualified professional.
It suits a multi-market intraday trader who wants tight raw pricing, automated execution, and a small starting stake. Entry is $50, with a free demo on real prices first.
It suits you less if you trade a long tail of niche names, since the range is built around the markets day traders use most rather than a catalog of several thousand. Friday afternoon momentum traders also give up the last two hours of the week, which is the cost of a broker that stops new positions before weekend gap risk instead of after it.
Cost per round turn, honest fills, a calendar you can plan around, and a license you can look up: EBC covers all four, and publishes the intraday restrictions rather than letting traders find them at 23:15 on a Friday. Test the fills on a demo, then size up when your own numbers agree.
Everything is done online, and most traders finish the same day.
Register at client.ebc.com with your name and email address.
Verify your identity with a government-issued photo ID and a proof of address. Every regulated broker has to ask, because it is a condition of the FCA, CIMA and ASIC licenses.
Choose your account type. Standard or Professional, decided with the pips conversion earlier on this page rather than by guesswork.
Fund from $50 by local bank transfer, wire, card, USDT, USDC, Neteller or Skrill. Deposits arrive as a US dollar balance, and EBC adds no fee of its own.
Install MT4 or MT5, free on desktop and mobile, then sign in with the same credentials.
You can open the demo at step one and trade it for a week before funding anything. Nothing requires you to deposit first, and a week of real fills tells a day trader more than any specification list.
Not in the final two hours before the weekly close, which are close-only. Before that window, leverage on newly opened positions is reduced, so a late Friday entry ties up more margin than the same trade earlier in the week.
Volume is not the trigger; spread difference is. A $6 round-turn commission equals 0.6 pips on a standard lot, so the raw-spread account wins on any instrument where it narrows the spread by more than that, at any frequency.
Leverage on newly opened positions is reduced in a short window around scheduled releases, while existing positions are unaffected. EBC publishes each window as its own notice, so check the announcements page before trading a major release.
Swap applies only to positions still open at the daily rollover, so a trader flat by the close pays none of it. Holding a position overnight puts you back in scope for the charge on that instrument.
Open the demo, trade your normal size on real prices for a week, and check your fills against the quotes you expected. If they hold up, open a live account and start small.
