For the first time in three years, Americans' wages are no longer outpacing inflation. Consumer prices jumped 3.8% on an annual basis, the highest since May 2023.


Petrol prices did not rise as fast as they did in March; however, the 5.4% increase was still the second fastest level seen since late 2023. That will likely in turn impact midterm elections.


A recent CNN poll c found that 77% – including a majority of Republicans – say that Trump's policies have increased the cost of living in their own community.
