Move Against Malaria 5K 2024

EBC’s support for the United to Beat Malaria initiative has been instrumental worldwide, helping over 150,000 people avoid the devastating effects of malaria. This support has ensured that hundreds of thousands of at-risk families, particularly children and pregnant women, receive the essential resources needed to live safely and healthily, allowing more children to reach their fifth birthday.

Malaria is a mosquito-borne disease that is both preventable and treatable, yet it continues to claim the life of a child under five nearly every minute. Globally, over half of the population—around 3.2 billion people—are still at risk of contracting malaria.

The Move Against Malaria 5K, initiated by the United Nations Foundation's United to Beat Malaria campaign, motivates people worldwide to run, walk, or engage in any physical activity covering five kilometers from World Malaria Day (April 25) to May 5. This event aims to heighten malaria awareness and fund critical malaria prevention and treatment programs.

The urgency for action is greater than ever, as many families are still out of reach of crucial interventions and suffer from a chronic lack of support.

Everyone is invited to take part in this global effort. You can sign up for the 5K via our website or the United to Beat Malaria official page. Whether by running or just walking a few extra steps, you can help save millions of lives and be part of the generation that ends malaria, ensuring a safer life for families around the world.

Together, let’s build the future.
